Meanwhile the MTN Ghana Music Awards
train stopped at the Twin Cities of
Sekondi-Takoradi on Saturday March
6, 2010. The people had more reasons
than one to jam; in fact, they had
three good reasons to celebrate.
The jam was in celebration if
Ghana’s 53rd Independence and the
Centenary Birthday celebration of
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the illustrious
son of the Region who championed the
struggle for Ghana’s Independence
from Great Britain in 1957. The
third reason was that the Nominees
of the 11th edition of the MTN GMA
were in town to party hard.
The organisers also conducted the
Selection Committee votes in
Takoradi the same day of the jam.
The members of the committee
consisting of music industry
professionals in the Western and
Central Regions converged at the
Raybow Hotel to go through the
nominees for the awards and voted.
Their votes make 35% of the decision
of who wins what at the Public
Category and 50% at the Industry
Categories.
The next Selection Committee Voting
is expected to be held in Kumasi by
the end of next week. Industry
Professionals from Ashanti and
Northern Regions will also get the
opportunity to vote. The third
sitting of the Selection Committee
which involves professionals from
Gt. Accra, Eastern and Volta will
take place subsequently in Accra.
All these sittings are in attendance
by KPMG Event Statisticians to
ensure everything happens as it
should be.
