The Artiste(s) must have commercially released a hit single/album during the year under review.

 

2.    Hiplife/Hip Hop Artiste(s) of the Year  

The Hiplife/Hip Hop Artiste of the Year is the Hiplife Artiste(s) adjudged by the Selection Committee, Planning Committee and the general public as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal, best stage craft and popularity. The Artiste(s) must have commercially released a hit single/album during the year under review.

 

3.    Highlife Artiste(s) of the Year

The Contemporary Highlife Artiste(s) of the Year is the contemporary Highlife Artiste(s) adjudged by the Selection Committee, Planning Committee and the general public as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal, best stage craft and popularity. The Artiste(s) must have commercially released a hit single/album during the year under review.

 

4.    Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year

The Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year is the Gospel Artiste adjudged by the Selection Committee, Planning Committee and the general public as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal, best stage craft and popularity. The Artiste(s) must have commercially released a hit single/album during the year under review.

 

5.    Discovery of the Year

The Discovery of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Selection Committee, Planning Committee and the general public as the most promising and talented new artiste(s). The award goes to the artiste(s) who made most impact with his/her first commercial release (Single/Album) during the year under review.

 

6.    Best Collaboration of the year

The Best Collaboration of the year is the song adjudged by the Selection Committee, Planning Committee and the general public as the song produced through the collaboration/featuring of two or more Artistes. The song must have been commercially released, enjoyed a lot of airplay both off and on radio and generated the most excitement during the year under review.

 

7.    African Artiste(s) of the Year

21.  Record Label of the Year

The Record label of the year award goes to the Record label with the highest number of nominees/winners. The Record Label must have commercially released at least two artistes in the year under review.

 

22.   Producer of the Year

The Producer of the Year award goes to the producer(s) directly responsible (creatively) for the production of the highest number of commercially released award-winning songs/winners during the year under review.

 

23. Traditional Artiste(s) of the Year

The Traditional Artiste(s) of the year is adjudged by the Selection and Planning Committees as the most popular Traditional or Folkloric Artiste(s) in the year under review.

 

24. Record of the Year

The Record of the Year is adjudged by the Planning Committee as the most outstanding original song that was commercially released during the year under review. It may not have enjoyed huge commercial success, but has quality artistic value.

 

25. Instrumentalist of the Year

The Instrumentalist of the Year is an honorary award presented to the Instrumentalist who performed creditably on a number of hit songs that were commercially released during the year under review. It is adjudged by the Planning Committee and awarded to the Instrumentalist who had the most influence on the music scene.
